STD or something else?

i have been in and out of the doctors office. so far we have no idea what the problem is.. but we do kow that i have an increasing amount of white blood cells and a decreasing amount of red blood cells,which shows an infection, and i have been on my period for over 3 weeks. could this be SOMETHING OTHER than an STD?
