How should the Pope respond to the backlash caused by his re-ordination of Bishop Richard Williamson?

The right thing to do would be to re-excommunicate Mr. Williamson. However, why would you expect someone who equates taking away the civil rights of law-abiding, taxpaying, gay Americans with "love" to understand what the right thing is?
